Privacy notice
What we collect when you shop, apply for a trade account or visit this site, why, who sees it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act.
Who is responsible
Rambler Safety is the responsible party under POPIA. Its contact address is 33 11th Avenue, Essenwood, Berea, Durban, 4001. The Information Officer can be reached at support@ramblersafety.com.
When you buy from the shop
To fulfil an order we collect your name, delivery address, email address and phone number, the items ordered and the order's payment state. We use them to take payment, pack and deliver the parcel, send the order, payment and despatch emails, handle exchanges and answer questions about the order. The legal basis is the contract of sale. You may buy as a guest; the order then belongs to the email address you gave and only the browser that placed it can see it.
Payment is taken by Payfast on Payfast's own pages. Your card number and bank login never reach this site; Payfast tells us only that the payment succeeded or failed and its own reference. Payfast's handling of your details is governed by Payfast's privacy policy.
Delivery is by The Courier Guy. We give them your name, address and phone number so the driver can deliver the parcel, and you receive the waybill number to track it.
Orders and invoices are recorded in Zoho Inventory and Zoho Books, our stock and accounting system, where your name, address and email appear on the sales order and invoice. Invoices are kept for the period tax law requires (five years).
Reviews
Product reviews you leave, or that were collected through Judge.me while the shop ran on Shopify, are published with the first name and initial you gave, the star rating and the text. Ask us and we will remove one.
Visiting the site
We count visits ourselves. Each visit is recorded once per browser per day as a salted digest that cannot be turned back into you, with the page arrived at, the referring website's domain only, the kind of device (phone, tablet, desktop) and how far the visit got (product, basket, checkout, order). No IP address, user-agent or name is stored, and a browser cannot be followed from one day to the next.
Cookies this site sets itself: a session cookie so your basket and sign-in follow you between pages, a security token that protects forms, and a language cookie if you choose a language. None of them is used for advertising, and none is shared.
When Rambler runs advertising on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) or Google, those companies' tags may run on the shop's pages. They record which product, basket, checkout and purchase pages you saw, using the product code and the order value, and set their own cookies on their own domains so that Meta or Google can show you the products you looked at and measure the advert. Meta's and Google's privacy policies govern that processing; you can limit it in your Facebook and Google ad settings and by blocking third-party cookies. Trade prices, account details and anything you type into a form are never sent to them.
Marketing messages
We send order emails because you ordered. We send promotional email or WhatsApp messages only if you asked for them, and every one tells you how to stop.
Trade accounts
The rest of this notice covers information supplied when a business applies for a trade account.
What we collect
Company and registration details, the main trading address, and the name, business role, email address and phone number of the authorised contact. Passwords are stored only as secure one-way hashes.
Why we use it
To review the application, prevent duplicate accounts, communicate the outcome, administer access, apply the correct approved commercial terms and create or link the customer record in Zoho after human approval.
Who receives it
Authorised Rambler staff and the service providers required to run the account, including the hosting, transactional-email and approved Zoho services. Rambler does not publish application details or sell them.
How long we keep it
Application information is retained for up to 24 months under the configured Rambler retention schedule, unless a longer period is required for an active trading relationship or by law.
Your choices
This processing is required to consider and administer a trade account. It does not subscribe the contact to promotional email or WhatsApp messages. Marketing choices are requested separately and default to off. No credit, special-price or account-approval decision is made solely by an automated system.
How long we keep what
Order records for five years, as tax law requires. Guest baskets that were never ordered are deleted after 30 days. Visit counts are kept as daily totals only. Trade-application information for the period stated above.
Your rights, questions and corrections
Under POPIA you may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted where applicable, object to processing, and withdraw consent to marketing at any time. Contact support@ramblersafety.com or WhatsApp 074 697 3907 and we answer within two working days. You may also lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator (inforeg.org.za).
